About me.

In the picture above we can see the rusted out back end plate of the n/s sill, this is reflective of the general condition of the whole sill.

While the off side sill is not as bad it does need full replacement as the jacking points are rusted out and the end plates are breaking away.

The rear brake drums are fully locked due mainly to the seized handbrake cable and assemblies

The seat bars and other out riggers appear at this stage to be sound but much closer examination will be necessary when soundness for welding of the new sills is carried out after body panel removal.

Road wheels:  (see section on brakes “essential work”)

The suspension units back and front appear sound, the ball joints and wishbone units have no free play at all.

The front wheel bearings are OK, but the rear cannot be checked until the brakes are freed off.

The alloy wheel rims are all sound but in need of resurfacing and painting.

Four of the five tyres are legally roadworthy but one is on the 2mm limit and would need replacement.

The steering mechanism is sound with no undue play or movement in the components.
