About me.

The rear drums were jammed by two problems, firstly the handbrake cables are locked solid and cannot easily be freed of.

The wheel cylinders are also seized preventing return movement of the shoes.

Considerable effort was needed to remove the drums without damaging them.

As the shoes are worn more than 50% it is expected that they will be replaced when the rebuild is undertaken.

Temporary work has been done that will enable free movement around the garage area but the car will remain un roadworthy meanwhile.

It is expected that the wheel cylinders may have to be renewed along with them several areas of pipe work and fittings that are corroded and / or rusted solid.

NEW cylinders bought.

At this point it has proved impossible to remove the wheel hub assembly from the drive shaft to expose the wheel back plate and other parts that will need to be refurbished.
