Owner’s buying guide and prices: (Nothing is hard and fast!)
All cars in this range are roughly the same basic value regardless of their year of registration. (Concourse grade cars are a different matter altogether though!)
The major factors affecting value are overall condition and originality of features - seats, roof types, dash and equipment, original engine and drive train all in good working order. Chassis are also a major consideration, simply having a galvanised chassis does not necessarily mean the end of rust issues as many still rust through on sills and box sections that are exposed to the rigours of use. Coachwork is an expensive item to restore to a high standard so body panels and surface damage are a factor to consider, average commercial repaint cost per panel seems to be about £250 or maybe £1500 or more for the whole car if you are lucky.
Cars needing extensive restoration / not roadworthy: £200—£350
Cars that can be restored reasonably cheaply without major structural repairs to chassis etc. £350—£850.
Cars that are roadworthy with long MOT in need of little more than service work to complete £850—£1500. Items like two roof options and low mileage with few owners make a considerable difference. Concourse grade cars can attract two or even three times this value BUT any car is only worth what someone will pay for it at the end of the day.
