The off side / driver door has some hinge fall but not to any degree. This is thought to be hinge pin wear as the glass fibre door structure bars and metal inner frame are sound.
These door hinges are prone to wear although not as much as on some cars.
The failure / wear of the lower hinge allows the door to fall slightly, and as there is not a lot of room for adjustment on the striker bars it can be crucial if the doors are to open and close without sustained damage.
The top hinges are sided but the lower ones appear interchangeable.
Much of the alignment adjustments are carried out during assembly by the use of shims and spacers. This appears to be the case with many ‘hand assembled’ cars where the assembly tolerance is greater than for robot line built ones.
Correct alignment is, and always was a problem for Reliant as not only the doors but the entire car is made up of separate panels that often needed individual modifications when built to get them to fit in an aligned fashion.
With this in mind it is not always possible to be sure that second hand panels will fit your car correctly, this is not a fault it is the nature of the beast.
There are signs of friction type insulation damage on many wires within the doors and the ones that are immediately under the dashboard units feed in the doors.
This is nothing serious and can be remedied by minor replacement and fresh body panel shielding being put in place.
